Privacy policy
Effective October 23, 2026
TalkWhile connects people with independent licensed therapists who meet clients while doing an activity, like walking, hiking or golf. This page explains what we collect when you use our site or create an account, why, who can see it, and how to have it deleted.
What we collect
- Your account. Your name and email. If you sign in with Google, Google shares your name and email with us. If you create a password, it’s handled by our sign-in provider and we never see it.
- If you’re looking for a therapist: your first name, ZIP code and the activities you’d like to do. We don’t ask about your health or why you’re seeking therapy when you sign up.
- If you’re a therapist: your name, credential, license state and number (so we can verify your license with the state board), practice city and ZIP code, the activities you offer, and the profile details you add, like your practice name, phone number, office address, website, a photo, bio, meeting spots, open hours, rate, payment options and the ages you work with.
- How you found us: ad campaign tags in the link you clicked (such as UTM parameters and Facebook’s click ID), saved with your account when you sign up.
Why we collect it
- To create and secure your account.
- To match people looking for a therapist with therapists nearby who offer the activities they chose.
- To email you about your account and your matches. We only email you about TalkWhile.
- To understand which ads and links bring people to TalkWhile.
Who can see it
We don’t sell your data, and we don’t share it for other companies’ marketing.
- Therapists you’re matched with. When we connect you with a therapist, we share what they need to reach you and plan your first session, such as your first name, email, general area and the activities you chose. We only do this for therapists you choose to connect with.
- Service providers that run TalkWhile for us. Google Cloud provides sign-in and stores account information, under a HIPAA business associate agreement. Vercel hosts the website.
- If the law requires it, for example a valid court order.
What you discuss with your therapist is between you and them. It isn’t shared with TalkWhile, and your therapist’s own privacy practices apply to your sessions and records.
How we protect it
Account information is encrypted, and our database is located in the United States. Each account can only see its own records, and access on our side is limited to the people who run TalkWhile.
Advertising and analytics
We use the Meta Pixel on our public pages, like the homepage and the page for therapists, to measure our ads. It records that a page was viewed. It is not loaded on our sign-up and account pages, and we never send your account details, activities, or anything you tell us to Meta or any other advertising platform.
We also use Vercel Web Analytics to count visits and see which pages and links people arrive from. It doesn’t use cookies or track you across other websites. Signing in stores a small amount of information in your browser so you stay signed in.
Earlier survey answers
Before accounts were available, people could answer a short survey on our site (September and October 2026). We keep those answers privately to improve TalkWhile and will delete yours if you ask.
How long we keep it
We keep your information while your account is open. You can ask us to delete your account and its information at any time.
Your choices
To see, correct, or delete your information, or to stop hearing from us, email hello@talkwhile.com from the address on your account. Every email we send also includes a way to unsubscribe.
Not a medical or crisis service
TalkWhile connects you with independent licensed therapists; it doesn’t provide therapy itself, and nothing on this site is medical advice. If you’re in crisis in the US, call or text 988. TalkWhile is intended for adults 18 and over.
